I often wonder how thankful we should all be for the health that we are blessed with. Either you are someone who believes in God or not, the fact that you have been given the amazing wonders of a body that functions, and allows you to go from one spot to the other is a gift on its own.

We are often met with people on roads who have lost a leg, an arm, eyes, or can’t hear. But do we ever spend a few moments in the morning to thank the creator of what he has blessed us with. If we start counting the various parts on our body, the functions they perform and the amazing value they add to our daily life, we might grow old but never be done with the list.

When that’s said, I feel it’s very important to also point out when people say something negative or sad about those that are less unfortunate. I have heard it with my own ears, people who find it funny when someone can’t walk or talk properly. I mean, come on, do they have any control over that? Would YOU have any control over your tongue if it was like this since birth and didn’t allow you to speak in the right way? Would you have any control over the way you walk if you were born with one leg that was shorter or NO legs at all?

There is a thin line between being rude and it’s a disservice to all humans when a person makes fun of the other based on the physical features they lack. Time always teaches us in one way or the other, and it scares me when I see people making fun of others and forget that someone, somewhere is watching.

I recall the time when the doctors told me two years back that your mum has only a few weeks left to survive due to the cancer. I couldn’t imagine a single moment without her and this doctor is telling me she will be no more? That the time she has on this earth is almost up? Who is he to tell me that and how can he be so sure that I don’t die before her?

Well, the news that mum had cancer wasn’t a pleasant one. Being so close to her since childhood, and living with her when dad was in Norway for 10 years straight I saw the strength and the words of wisdom I got from her can never be matched by anyone in my entire life. What I am today is because of her prayers for me, and the moment we lowered her body in the graveyard was the toughest day of my life.

Cancer separates lots of people from their family members every single day, and sadly it usually is because of no regular health checkups. I did a radio program with a doctor in Norway few weeks back, and he also meant that people usually go through checkups when things have gone beyond their control. Please if you really want to show your love towards your family members, do them a favor and get a total health checkup. You have no idea what you not being there will do to their lives.I can’t control my tears when I think about my mum and driving near the graveyard she is sleeping in there has hardly been a time that her love doesn’t attract me to go and sit next to her grave and pray for her. Since I am Muslim, we believe that when parents pass away the children in this world doing good deeds will benefit their parents, so this keeps me in check-n-balance, as I try to be at my best.. I can’t repay her for the millions of times she woke up for me when I was a baby, but at least i can tell her that I still love her and she’s my angel.

And please do pray for a friend who is undergoing an operation today for their cancer, hoping for their long life and a good successful operation.

People are often worried when the “lack of money” bug hits in and affects the whole household or the family in general. Lots of things that are needed can’t be bought, and lots of dreams vanish because one has based everything around it. I am not saying that don’t earn money because it’s not needed, I am just saying that don’t waste your life earning ONLY money but spend some time on yourself and your family as well.

I sometimes wonder if money is making the world go around or is it the media that comes up with those “flashy” products that we just HAVE to have. We need to have the latest phone, the latest car the biggest house and the most expensive watch that makes the others green with envy, but do we really need it? Not saying that I do such but yes lots of people do. They would buy things just so their status in this “world” can be higher than others who they meet.

What for? Is this cash going to bring the person back from the dead if something happens to them? I can see one example right now. Steve Jobs, the guy behind Apple computers, and the Ipad and Iphone mania, is a remarkable guy. If anyone could buy “health” it would be him, with so much money one would think life would be so beautiful, but is it? Without good health life is absolutely nothing but painful for those going through it. But the key to enjoying life then as well is, patience. Pain doesn’t go away but being patient and believing that things “will” be better is the only comfort one can give one self, that’s how my mum used to deal with her cancer. Always kept saying “It will be ok, I am fine I am fine”.. I recall a few others who went through same, the screaming and yelling through the same cancer made their life span shorter as well.

What I am saying is, as for the topic of this post. Focus on providing yourself ways to stay healthy, rather than wealthy. Yes, money is very important to survive in this world, but I also know lots of people who eat just twice a day, have no electricity and spend their day with their family in tiny huts and are the happiest people in the world.

Next time you feel that you don’t have enough cash, think about those who never have seen a PC, and here you are sitting on one

How many times do we thank people who give us something for nothing in return? And how many times do we thank the All Mighty for blessing us with a healthy life for nothing in return either? I see more and more people being so unthankful totally forgetting what God put them on this earth for. Most of us tend to come to a point where we want to pray more and more yet still feel more should be done. But some people I see around me totally heartless when they see people in pain and also those people who just make fun of those that are not “normal”. But what in the world is normal? is it normal to make fun of someone who can’t walk??? Is it fun to make fun of someone who can’t talk can’t hear can’t move and so on.. but still millions of teenagers get this kind of sick upbringing that makes them feel they are perfect.

And then comes a time when BANG!!! They themselves end up in a situation wondering “What did they do wrong?” ..

Sad but true… majority of the new generation is so much into materialistic things that they forget to thank God for everything they have that they can never ever buy with money..ever
