Wakas : Wake up bro you won’t be able to eat after an hour

Bro 1 : Ok coming in a minute

Wakas : (Goes into the other room of his other bro) Wake up now me making some stuff in the kitchen and make sure you don’t make noises or mum will wake up she ain’t well.

Bro 2 : Ok me coming

All three bros sitting in the living room while Wakas is making some parathas and preparing for their first fast that will open in the next 16 hours.

The feeling is amazing, the time is holy and a soul cleansing procedure starts…

What am I talking about?

Ramadan, ofcourse Ramadan is the month when our Holy Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, and the clear teachings. It’s the ninth lunar month in the Islamic calendar.

Millions of Muslims around the world fast from dawn to the sunset in this holy month. But what is it that makes it so interesting is that in it’s own simple way it teaches one to learn to look around and see those who are unable to access food whenever they want like most of us, and learn to appreciate what God has granted us with. Fruits and vegetables clothed in small cute little wraps for us to enjoy and fill our tummies with.

Medical professionals from various times have agreed to the benefits of fasting to our health. Because it gives our internal organs the very much required rest. The thing is that fasting is not just refraining from food like some people think. It also makes us see the important aspects of this sacred time for us Muslims.

As wikipedia says:

It also allows Muslims to practice self-discipline, sacrifice, and sympathy for those who are less fortunate, intended to make Muslims more generous and charitable. Muslims can eat after the sun has set. Pregnant women, the elderly, the ill, and travellers are all exempt from fasting as lack of food and liquid in these situations could be detrimental to health. The fast is also not considered compulsory in childhood (typically considered to end at puberty), although many children endeavour to complete as many fasts as possible, as practice for later life.

Three things I will make sure of this Ramadan

Pray regularly

Read Quran with translation

Get up to help the rest of the family fast

What are the three things you are going to make sure you do this Ramadan (and later on too)?

For other lovely readers who aren’t muslims.. you are welcome to comment ofcourse
